唱片简介：AT THE GATES 是瑞典旋律死亡金属的启蒙和最杰出的代表，与IN FLAMES和DARK TRANQUILLITY等乐队一同被视做此类风格的代表乐队，被称做"哥德堡之声"。AT THE GATES 在保持旋律性的基础上，比其他瑞典旋律死亡更为凶狠，残酷一些。

90年代中期，在大量瑞典乐队投身新死亡金属潮流的时候，AT THE GATES 黯然解散，留下了最后的作品 Slaughter of the Soul。从整体上来说，一听便知是经验丰富的老牌乐队做的。很多地方老练而圆滑，充分显现出了瑞典金属的实力。这张唱片也被认为是最出色的瑞典旋律死亡金属唱片之一。
